If I'm not mistaken this would be the first time this type of award was given out in the Teen Choice Awards so kudos to the organizers for this milestone. Although I am not too clear as to what the award is for and have actually seen some negative reactions towards it but whether or not you agree with the award itself or that Ms. J is fabulous (I happen to think he is!) he actually is a good role model for those teens who voted for him whom I don't think know too much about him other than being the ferosh runway coach/ judge in ANTM. So here are a few reasons why Ms J is indeed FABULOUS!
- The Queen of the Catwalk grew up in South Bronx (an impoverished area in New York) and now he lives in Paris!
- Was discovered by Elite Model Management president Monique Pillard while dressed in drag!
- Became friends with Tyra Banks when he was 16 at the backstage of a runway show and started giving her walking lessons.
- His talent as a runway coach was recognized accidentally because he would often coach models backstage.
- He has coached supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kimora Lee Simmons
- Does casting and coaching for well known designers such as Hervé Léger, Bill Blass, Valentino, John Galliano, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, and Nina Ricci just to name a few.
- Has handmade all the clothes he wore on ANTM.
